Explore Brisbane By Day...

For a day spent ashore in this riverside city these are the places to be pampered, the shopping districts to delve into, the activities to indulge in, and the gourmet treats to discover.

Pampering
Stephanie’s Spa Retreat
Spectacularly housed in the Sofitel Hotel, Stephanie’s Spa Retreat offers indulgent five-star pampering. Besides its seven boutique style suites, and twin suite, the Spa hosts a Traditional Opal Rasul Temple which offers a journey of mud therapy, steam baths and tropical rain showers. Afterwards, treat yourself to the exclusively designed nail spa in the Sensory Spa Lounge.

Shopping
Queen Street
Shopping opportunities in Brisbane are endless. North of the river is the city’s Queen Street Mall, a long promenade of open-air stores and separate shopping arcades. The newest and most impressive is Queen’s Plaza, hosting such stores as Tiffany’s alongside Australia’s biggest designer names.

North of the River
Also north are the streets of Fortitude Valley, where truly unique pieces by local designers can be found, mixed amongst brilliantly artistic and offbeat clothing and furnishings. The suburbs of Hamilton and Paddington also offer pretty boutiques with the latest in up-scale fashions. Paddington in particular is also home to wonderful antique stores.

Southern Suburbs
South of the River is the sprawling Indooroopilly shopping centre, one of the largest in the country. For smaller, more up-market offerings, head to the South Bank precinct where beautiful jewellery and clothing stores line the streets.

Activities
Hot-Air Balloon Flight
Take in an amazing bird’s-eye view of Brisbane City with a hot air balloon flight. Take-off just after day break when the air is still and enjoy unparalleled views of the river, city and surrounding suburbs.

Islands
For an escape from the city, sail to the nearby islands of Fraser or Moreton where you can head ashore for a day of sandboarding, four-wheel-driving, snorkelling or surfing lessons. Alternatively, anchor off shore and try your hand at fishing, or simply drink in the lovely sea views.

Mount Coot-Tha

For an escape with a difference, follow an Aboriginal art trail through the fascinating bush land of Mount Coot-Tha, an excellent opportunity to spot koalas, kangaroos and rare birdlife before reaching the top of the mountain for stunning panoramic views of the city.

Bites
Watt Modern Dining
Located in the newly renovated Powerhouse Museum in the artistic suburb of New Farm, Watt Modern Dining makes for a lovely spot to enjoy a long lunch accompanied by an excellent wine list.

e’cco
Modern Australian bistro, e’cco is a local favourite and award winner, and deservedly so. Bright and stylish, simple but delicious food is beautifully presented in this bistro on the fringe of the city.
