Weather in West Mediterranean

The west Mediterranean is home to one of the most seductive and pleasurable climates in the world. Characterized by long, sultry summers and mild winters, the diverse and alluring destinations within this temperate region are idyllic nearly the whole year round.

The hot summers rarely reach scorching levels and are ideal for sun-soaking and outdoor activities alike. The cool winter rarely dips close to freezing, and though the rainy season can be intense, it is typically short-lived. This area is influenced by three different types of wind: westerlies, trade winds bringing arid temperatures, and the scirocco which is a hot, dry Saharan wind. Combined with the balmy climate, these winds can prove to be the most unpleasant part of the area, though they do make for excellent sailing conditions the majority of the time.
