The Schooner Lelanta was custom designed as a private yacht in 1929 by the prestigious yacht designer JohnG. Alden of Boston and was built of steel by well renown G. deVries Lentsch in Amsterdam, Holland. Lelanta started her career in the famous 1930 Fastnet race in England and continued cruising and racing throughout England, Brittany, France and the Mediterranean for the next thirty-five years.

In 1966, after her first trans-Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean, Lelanta entered the luxury charter trade and happily sailed pampered guests throughout the West Indies. The seventies found Lelanta summering in New England, Maine & Nova Scotia, then with visits in Bermuda, continuing to winter in the Caribbean. In the nineties Lelanta was hauled at a famous New England shipyard, professionally surveyed and completely rebuilt as per survey including hull plating, ports, complete ships electrical, tankage, plumbing, engine & generator systems, sails, rigging and electronics. The plush interior was hand crafted in the original style in solid Teak and Butternut accented with inlaid leaded glass cabinetry and antique lamps and artwork collected throughout Europe.
