Set in London’s literary epicentre of Bloomsbury, nestled behind the bustling streets of Great Russell Street, Dalloway Terrace’s chic and contemporary terrace setting seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor dining.

As we were to discover during our visit on a balmy September evening, the enchanting location is perfect for a magical dining experience whatever the season, encompassing the sanctuary of a whimsical garden with lush manicured greenery. With a retractable roof and heated terrace, summer nights here are blissful and winter nights by candlelight promise an ambience to remember.

The venue is perfectly suited to an evening of chic cocktails or an al fresco lunch with friends, and it also serves an exceptional Afternoon Tea. But we were here to sample the evening dinner menu – and we weren’t disappointed.

We began our evening with the sweet and fruity Lady Rossetter cocktail, a nod to a character of the same name in the famous novel Mrs Dalloway. Moving onto the food, we enjoyed a delicious selection of starters, including a superb Cornish Crab on Guinness Brown Toast, and Seared Tuna with Soy & Ginger Dressing. This was followed by Grilled Tiger Prawns sizzling in harissa aioli and spritzed with lime for a main, which was fresh and succulent. My companion enjoyed a main course of dry aged Angus beef filet with peppercorn sauce, which she reported as melt-in-the-mouth and perfectly cooked.

For dessert, the standout dish was the Valrhona & pecan nut slice with salted caramel ice cream, providing a superb curtain call to our meal. My colleague’s lemon tart was also excellent, offering a flavoursome zest of perfection.

If you can’t make it for dinner, it’s Afternoon Tea has also received rave reviews, attracting chic and stylish London crowds for a selection of tea infusions and delicious bites, from Bloomsbury cupcakes and chocolate eclairs to freshly baked scones and spring lamb pies. With its talent in capturing the best of British flavours with aesthetic charm, Dalloway Terrace certainly stands out from the crowd.

Warm and welcoming service here cannot be faulted either, with a thoughtful front of house team keen to share their knowledge and expertise on the menu and always on hand to add to your experience, even offering cosy blankets to outdoor guests. Whether it’s the champagne on ice on your arrival or a romantic table by candlelight, it ticks all the right boxes.

For a setting that feels a world away from the electric pace of London life, while offering a glimpse into a bygone literary era, then Dalloway Terrace is rapidly establishing itself as one of London's finest gastronomy destinations.
