Week Commencing 15 August 2011

It seems like only yesterday that we were congregating at Salon Privé in west London for a gathering of some of the world’s most sought-after classic cars.

But here we are again eagerly anticipating Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance, California’s contribution to the global classic car roadshow, taking place next weekend. This year’s event promises to be better than ever, with over 200 vehicles set to be showcased – all vying for the attention of judges who will be marking them on style, beauty and general quality.

Elsewhere this week, we profile a company steeped in British aristocratic history. Over two centuries old, gun makers James Purdey & sons have never let their standards slip, and continue to represent British craftsmanship at its finest. There’s also a beautifully shot video which depicts the quintessential Purdey lifestyle that continues to endure.

We’ve also gone watch-crazy this week. First up, there’s a profile of a new and exciting watch-maker called Ateliers deMonaco. Based in the heart of Monte Carlo, the brand was created with the intention of dragging the watch industry into the 21st century with its innovative designs. With a trio of passionate and successful watch-lovers behind the concept, it is certainly a company to keep an eye on.

If that’s not enough, there’s also features on two new watch launches, from Cartier and Audemars Piguet respectively – two brands renowned for the timeless quality of their creations, and their latest offerings stand up to that billing.

Finally, we feature plans for a new $500 million floating resort in Qatar, an ambitious online wine delivery service based in Italy but serving the UK market, and – to neatly book-end this week’s newsletter – a feature on London’s Classic Car Club. Have a great week!
