Louis Vuitton Unveils its Debut Smart Watch

Over the past few years almost every luxury watch brand has joined the smart watch revolution, but one company that has remained conspicuous by its absence has been Louis Vuitton – until now.

The iconic French label has unveiled the Tambour Horizon, an Android-powered stylish smartwatch created in partnership with Google and wireless innovators Qualcomm.

Running on Android Wear 2.0, the watch is a reworking of Louis Vuitton’s classic Tambour silhouette and swaps the mechanical hardware for digital technology.

The 42mm case of the watch sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED 390×390 touchscreen that is surrounded by a 24-hour dial ring and it is powered by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor.

In addition to the standard Android Wear features, Louis Vuitton has added some custom watch faces based on its existing product line-up, along with some flight-tracking and city guide features.

The pricing for the Tambour Horizon watch starts at $2,450 for the regular stainless steel model, and $2,900 for the black variant.

Last month Louis Vuitton unveiled a new line of Tambour watches, each with a striking new case design called the Tambour Moon, to mark the 15th anniversary of the original version.

Founded in France in 1854, Louis Vuitton has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned luxury brands.
