Van Cleef & Arpels Wins Two Watch Prizes

French luxury watch and jewellery brand Van Cleef & Arpels secured two prestigious awards last week for two of its dazzling timepieces.

First, the Butterfly Symphony watch from Van Cleef & Arpels’ Poetic Complications collection won the Ladies watch prize at the Grand Prix du Public 2011 of Geneva in Switzerland last Friday.

Then just a day later, the Lady Arpels Polar Landscape seal decor Extraordinary Dial watch won the Jewellery and artistic crafts watch prize at the Grand Prix de l'Horlogerie de Genève, an event designed to encourage creativity and introduce new watchmaking talent.

Featuring a white gold case set with round diamond, the Butterfly Symphony gets its name from the depictions of butterflies on the dial which tell the time with a flutter of their wings.

Other notable features include its dial in mother-of-pearl, onyx and sculpted gold, engraving on the case back, an Alligator strap bracelet or chequer links, and white gold paved buckle.

The Lady Arpels Polar Landscape seal decor Extraordinary Dial, meanwhile, comes with sky of turquoise mother-of-pearl, and depictions of animals with coats set with diamonds.

Van Cleef & Arpels was founded by Charles Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef in 1896.
