Motor Yacht Polar Star
Motor yacht Polar Star, built in 2005 by German shipyard Lurssen, is an ice-classed expedition superyacht. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she features naval architecture by Lurssen Yachts, exterior design by Espen Oeino and the interior work of Pauline Nunns. This twin screw yacht measures 62.97 metres and can accommodate up to 12 guests.
Motor yacht Polar Star was previously known as Northern Star but had her name changed by her new owner upon her sale in 2006. She is capable of accessing the broad expanse of the world’s oceans, in particular, remote and lesser-known cruising regions.
Composed of six levels, this ice-class expedition motor yacht hosts generous and spacious areas both inside and out for guest comfort and unhampered crew services. Large outdoor decks aft and forward as well as the crowning sundeck offer opportunities for alfresco dining and comfortable lounging in the sun or shade. The bridge deck boasts a gym on the stern while a lounge sits aft near a 10 person spa-pool and bar.
With decorations provided by Serena Williams-Ellis, the interior of Polar Star (ex Northern Star) carries a theme that has somewhat of a rustic French country house. Evoking feelings of home are features such as a fireplace, antiques and hand-painted murals.
Amongst her six cabins are an indulgent owner’s suite; a VIP cabin; two King guest staterooms; and two twin guest staterooms. The upper deck owner’s suite includes a den, his and hers bathrooms and panoramic views. The guest staterooms are located on the main deck instead of below decks as is the case in most yachts of a similar size and the VIP cabin can be found on the lower deck.
Luxury yacht Polar Star is powered by two Caterpillar 3512B engines that allow her to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots. She can achieve a range of 6,000 nautical miles while cruising at a speed of 12 knots.
Featuring a dedicated crew, Polar Star is an excellent charter yacht for luxury vacations. The yacht cruises comfortably at 12 knots while her crew of 14 ensure the needs of every guest are met. Crew are accommodated in seven cabins which are centrally located along with a crew lounge. The galley can also be found on this deck for ease of access and service.
The luxury motor yacht is equipped with an armada of water toys to provide endless entertainment during any yacht charter. Onboard water toys include tenders, Jet Skis, Waverunners, kayaks, a custom-built dive compressor and fishing equipment; all of which is stored in the stern garage.
Polar Star cruises the Mediterranean during the summer charter season and the Caribbean in winter.
