2011 MYS: Editor’s Final Day Comments

The 21st edition of the Monaco Yacht Show is now drawing to a close, and as I listen to the collective superyacht horns sound and chime in the end of the show. I find myself thinking about what people in the Superyacht Industry have achieved this week.

After interviewing 45 key representatives of the Superyacht Industry at the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show, we managed to uncover an eye-opening amount of new announcements as well as discussing a lot of positive news off the record.

The atmosphere at this year’s show has been extremely positive. Things are beginning to move, people have had a very productive few days and we have been left with the feeling that the market is beginning to shift into gear.

People who have joined us at the Breaking News Centre since our last update have been the likes of Mikael Sylvestre, the respected footballer and rum aficionado; the fearless Captain Paul Watson, founder of Sea Shepard; Co-founder of ISA Marcello Maggi; CEO of Moonen Shipyards Emile Bilterijst; Frank Neubelt from Newcruise Yacht Project & Design; Jamie Edmiston, Director of Edmiston and Linley, and Hein Velema, CEO of Fraser Yachts.

We’ve loved every minute of the Monaco Yacht Show and, albeit very hard work, feel that we have delivered up to the minute news on the superyacht industry whilst providing a unique insight into the success which has been the 21st edition of the show.

However, not all of the material we’ve filmed, photographed and written at the show has made it up yet, so keep an eye on the website as we continue to break the news from Port Hercules.
