Week Ending 11th of March 2011
News from the 2011 Dubai Boat Show announced a number of yachts were sold, ranging across all different sizes. The main report concerned the sale of a brand-new 40m Sunseeker superyacht on top of several smaller and mid-range vessels – all in the first three days.
The success of the Dubai Boat Show gives us an excellent grasp on how well the Middle Eastern market alone is embracing the superyacht lifestyle; allowing us to estimate the likely success of the up and coming Abu Dhabi Yacht Show at the end of the month.
Other focal events outside the industry spectrum included the largest property convention in the world; attracting property tycoons and industry representatives to Cannes whilst chartering some of the best yachts on the market.
Prominent industries such as the property and luxury goods sectors are gradually returning to financial stability and returning to the charter market for events which rank outside the usual, broker to client boat show – hosting parties and events on board for clients and colleagues.
With the Singapore Yacht Show yet to prove how Asia greets the superyacht industry and the Cannes Film Festival taking place in May, more and more high-net-worth individuals will be introduced to the charter and brokerage market in the next few months.
By introducing key, untapped markets to the superyacht lifestyle through high-powered international events (both inside and out of the industry spectrum), we can work toward bringing a welcome influx of first time clients to the industry.
