Week Ending 22nd of April 2011

Spiking temperatures, clear skies and long breaks are forecast across the United Kingdom over the coming weeks, and as the world takes a break for the Easter holidays; this season is opening up to be the perfect opportunity to venture onboard a yacht and really enjoy some time off.

The upcoming events of 2011 are set to provide the superyacht community with the ideal chance to soak up the roaring atmosphere and stunning backdrops of the superyacht lifestyle; however, just because the world is preparing to enjoy a well earned rest, does not mean the superyacht industry has been slacking.

After speaking with a number of key industry representatives this week, reports from across the board have brought a variety of highly positive stories regarding latest designs, new build contracts, brokerage deals and successful superyacht events.

The Informa Yacht Group, organisers of the Singapore Yacht Show, recently reported that major players in the superyacht industry successfully signed a number of potential multi-million dollar deals during the event in South East Asia - such as Gulf Crafts recent announcement over the sale of the Majesty 88.

News also emerged today that A1 Yacht Trade Consortium has just completed the successful sale of the newly launched 73.5m Nobiskrug superyacht Sapphire, the 97th largest yacht in the world.

YPI and YCO also added to this week’s brokerage news updates after announcing the sale of the 27m sailing yacht Aeolian.

Reports from the shipyards gave us the news that Delta Marine has signed a contract to build the brand-new 66m superyacht project, having only just launched M/Y Monarch, alongside the news that the Mangusta 148 superyacht is now beginning final stages of construction at the Overmarine facilities in Viareggio.

These are just some of the reports from the superyacht industry which have made the headlines this week; however there are also a number of exciting stories which we will be bringing you as more details arise over the coming weeks.

So, on behalf of everyone here at Superyachts.com, I’d like to wish you all a Happy Easter and, be it chartering, cruising or just sunning yourself somewhere, that you all enjoy a well earned break.
