Notes From The Editor

Editor’s Note: Calm Waters

The last few months have seen a number of exciting announcements, the most significant of which was the completion of Lürssen’s 136m Project SHU and Feadship’s largest build to date, the 110m Project 1007.

While little is known about these projects, they are sure to turn heads once they are delivered, and have already made it into our Top 100 Forecast. Until such times, there will be plenty to look out for as the Mediterranean season gets into full flow.

With attention firmly on this side of the pond, we took advantage of the low season in the Caribbean and headed out to Antigua and Barbuda. With our in-house film team in tow, we have been working closely with the local tourism board and government on a number of exciting projects. Print editor, Rose-Hannah Lishman reveals more about our visit and what you can expect in the coming months.

Faced with the challenge of promoting an old-favourite superyacht destination, the second Superyachts.com trip to Antigua & Barbuda (since the December Charter Show!) saw me and the film crew traversing the islands to uncover each and every luxurious corner; both on and off the water. From ultra-luxe resorts to private islands and beach-club restaurants, the quiet season opened up the high-end hotspots for us to capture their beauty in both photo and film.

Making the most of Caribbean down-time, we conducted over 30 interviews with locals, entrepreneurs, business owners and government officials, in order to get the inside scoop on the best way to enjoy Antigua & Barbuda by superyacht. Learning of the warm and welcoming aura of the people, breath-taking landscapes, world class resorts, restaurants and of course, marinas, we soon learnt that this wouldn’t be too difficult of a challenge after all.

Now back in the London office, we are met with the task of unravelling the research and formatting it for both your viewing and reading pleasure. While I work to produce a collection of materials that promote the islands in time for the next season, the rest of the editorial team are online and keeping you up to date with the latest news and updates from summer in the Med! Stay tuned.
