Feadship Launches Superyacht Air and Hull #802
Feadship has announced the launch of two incredible superyachts in an amazing string of new launches taking place across the globe - introducing the 81m superyacht Air and the 77m unnamed Hull #802.
The two Feadship yards, Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw and Royal Van Lent, each launched a giant Feadship for delighted owners on Saturday 26th March.
The 81m superyacht Air, yet another launch in the Top 100, has instantly become the largest Feadship in the world available for charter and the largest yacht from the De Vries yard to date.
The other significant launch from Feadship is the 77.7m Hull #802 from the Royal Van Lent yard. This superyacht is distinctive and characteristic in design and boasts a white hull and metallic grey and blue superstructure.
“It is interesting to note that while other major superyacht yards are increasingly focusing on semi-custom series yachts, Feadship continues to lead to lead the way in bespoke and entirely unique projects,” comments Francis Vermeer, head of marketing at Feadship. “Moreover, both Feadship yards have a very healthy portfolio for the coming years with ten superyachts currently under construction ranging from 45 meters up to the latest Royal Van Lent order of 101.5 meters in length.”
Hull #802
One of the most confidential projects from the yard, Hull #802 is an expertly designed custom superyacht which was constructed by the Royal Van Lent shipyard with the help of Eidsgaard Design, Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects and Edmiston & Company.
The result is an exceptionally creative and innovative yacht in terms of both exterior profile and exterior styling and layout. Her exterior design was created to combine the elegance of contemporary luxury yachting with the strength of a sea faring vessel.
Distinctive design elements of Hull #802 include a full beam main lounge, the location of guest accommodation on the main deck, plus a private owner’s deck. A contra flow swimming pool has a spacious sun deck with outdoor cinema are among the superlative al fresco facilities.
This impressively sized motor yacht also pushes the boundaries of engineering as well as design, offering a top speed of 21 knots through four engines and extensive CFD program development tests.
M/Y Air
This incredible superyacht was built by the Koninklijke De Vries yard in collaboration with De Voogt Naval Architects, the owner’s IYR build team and interior design from Remi Tessier.
“The owners of Air have already built at Feadship before and we are very aware of the quality standard to which they aspire,” explains Vermeer. “They are a wonderful example of repeat clients who have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of building a Feadship. With her Harley Davidson black hull, Air is an exceptional superyacht that showcases our ability to create truly one-of-a-kind vessels for the most discerning customers.”
Air has an exceptionally sleek and elegant exterior with modern lines, while also incorporating a distinctive Feadship flared bow. Air is also the first yacht to be built under Annex 2 of the LY2 to have a fully certified commercial helicopter pad – presenting a real challenge for the De Voogt Naval Architects.
Whilst still a very secretive project, Feadship has stated that her highly sophisticated minimalistic design makes for a stunning interior; including materials such as matte-finished sycamore, leather, matte-finished special paint high gloss stainless steel, palladium leaf, back-lit white onyx, off-white & black limestone and a wealth of carved glass.
Air is a superyacht designed for owners who revel in relaxation, offering a unique owner’s observation deck lounge with a breathtaking vista over the eight-meter long pool on the vast main deck forward area.
Luxurious spaces on board also include the magnificent sun deck, which offers great views, a gym, lounging areas and a Jacuzzi with a 102” pop-up television screen for outdoor movie viewing.
Number 59 in the Superyachts.com Top 100 Largest Yachts in the World listing, Superyacht Air is now available for charter via IYR (International Yacht Register) and the Feadship charter division.
