In December 2009 we saw the unveiling of Ghost Yachts' first semi-custom design: 55m G180, a collaboration with Gloss Design and shipyard Jongert. Ghost Yachts has now unveiled the new G180V design: a stunning, high performance semi-custom yacht.

Parallel to the development of the Ghost G180, Ghost Yachts was determined to develop a suitable alternative for fast, large planing and semi-displacement yachts within the 500 Gross Tons limits.

Björn Moonen, founder of Ghost Yachts wanted an “instantly recognizable and modern” superyacht, safe to say he achieved it with the futuristic G180. However, designs have now been released showcasing the G180V - an entirely new contemporary motor yacht from the shipyard.

The new G180V sports ultra-modern exterior lines on a sleek and sporty profile. She has one large balcony with a Jacuzzi which extends round the bridge and toward a further open deck area with an infinity pool located at the bow.

The G180V holds a look of power and grace. The yacht's sporty looks are supported by equally impressive performance data. She is powered by two MTU 20V engines to a top speed of 34 knots and a cruising speed of 31 knots; an impressive speed for a yacht of this size. An optional Vericor TF50 booster unit with water jet raises the bar even higher to an outstanding 40 knots.

The yacht's Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) was developed by Dutch Naval Architects Van Oossanen & Associates alongside her vertical bow configuration. The FDHF hull provides the option for comfortable cruising at displacement speeds and a transatlantic range at a 15 knots passage speed.

Meeting the 500GT size requirements proved to be an interesting and challenging operation. The Ghost G180V is unusually long for a 500GT yacht so the design had be carefully shaped and calculated to stay within the volume parameters.

The G180V's length allows for generous exterior spaces, with al fresco dining or sunbathing areas available for comfortable outdoor living. The G180V also offers a spacious interior with room for up to 10 guests. Accommodation comprises a full-beam master suite, with balconies on the forward main deck, and four guest cabins on the lower deck.

The G180V is another triumph of aesthetic skill from Ghost Yachts and Gloss Design, with innovative naval architecture from Van Oossanen & Associates.
