Week Ending 1st of April 2011
Eight superyachts, measuring from 27 metres to 87 metres, have been launched by a number of distinguished shipyards across the world. Four of these yards have launched two superyachts in the proximity of a week, marking an extraordinary achievement.
Sanlorenzo, the prestigious Italian yacht builder, announced the launch of their 15th SD92 superyacht, Babu Forever on the 29th of March.
In Spain, Factoria Navil Marin launched two superyachts in relatively close proximity, unveiling their 45m motor yacht Follow Me V and the classic 47m schooner replica, Y105.
Proteksan Turquoise, the leading shipyard in Turkey, successfully launched two 60m motor yachts in the space of a week – introducing Talisman C and Yogi.
Italy’s CRN managed to launch the 43m superyacht Lady Trudy alongside the unnamed Hull 130 in a shorter space of time; an achievement which was quickly countered by Feadship’s double launch of the 81m superyacht Air and the secretive 77.7m Hull #802 on the same day.
However the largest launch of the week took place at the Lürssen shipyard in Rendsburg, Germany as the world renowned yacht builder introduced the completed 87m Valerie for the first time.
Superyachts Air and Valerie, numbers 59 and 53 in the Top 100, have successfully launched, bringing two yachts in the largest yachts in the world ranking from the shipyard to the water.
Not only was this week a notable occasion for new yacht launches, but a remarkable week for Superyachts.com. During our coverage of the 2011 Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, Superyachts.com also hosted its second superyacht event of the year at the Palm Beach Boat Show.
With superyachts launching at an incredible rate, alongside a number of prestigious events on the horizon, the summer season is drawing in – bringing a renewed sense of confidence and recovery across the market.
