Week Ending 22/07/11
Thanks to Fraser Yachts’ announcement of the development of a new superyacht programme for the America’s Cup, large luxury yachts can become part of a truly amazing event.
As athletes and sailors from around the world compete in a high-octane race for the title of world champion, superyachts are now being groomed to stand on the side lines; offering a virtual race course guideline for the racers and an incredible spectator opportunity for superyacht owners and charterers.
This is another excellent way of bringing new high-net worth individuals into the Superyacht Industry by introducing sailing enthusiasts, high-end luxury consumers and first time charterers to the sheer spectacle and awe of the superyacht lifestyle.
Only aboard a luxury yacht will people get this close to the race and experience the exclusivity that only a superyacht can offer.
Charter opportunities from around the world have also opened up this week in the form of Spirt, YCO’s new central agency for charter, and Dubois’ new 37m charter yacht Moonbird.
With exciting reports still emerging from all walks of the Industry, I feel that this is now and industry which is keeping its cards close to its chest in anticipation for the 2011 Monaco Yacht Show.
In an attempt to delve deeper into the show and gain more of an insight into the world’s leading superyacht event, I’ll be releasing a number of in-depth features in the coming weeks; so be sure to keep an eye out.
