Located in the sultry West Indies, the Windward Islands are home to some of the Caribbean’s most breath-taking destinations. Thick with lush rainforest, every island is encircled by the crystalline water of the luscious Caribbean which lightly skims the gold and white sand beaches. Each Windward isle is as rare and beautiful as a gem in a princely crown.

Many of islands within the Windward group are notorious for their sparkling clientele, but these islands offer a gorgeous and diverse tropical sanctuary no matter who they visitor may be. Surrounded by 5,000+ land masses, reefs and cays, the Windwards are a glorious section of the vibrant island fragments that make up the Lesser Antilles.

Mostly volcanic, the majestic Windward Islands tend to be rugged and mountainous with areas of thick mysterious rainforest. Sublime rivers and streams are in abundance, and help keep the soil rich for the thriving agricultural industry which is the mainstay for this quaint archipelago.

Martinique
Martinique is an overseas department of France and, as such, is a pristine island marriage between tradition-rich Gallic culture and vibrant Caribbean tradition. Fort-de-France is the islands cultivated capital city offering excellent restaurants and up-scale boutiques. Those craving a more rustic idyll have their pick of exploring the rural fishing villages, miles of provocative, secluded beach or the smouldering Mont Pelée.

St. Lucia
The unknown gem of the Windwards has to be St.Lucia. Small and lush, this verdant isle is home to magnificent rain forests brimming with orchids, giant ferns and birds of paradise as well as protecting the endangered St.Lucia parrot. Dotted with aging fortresses from the Colonial period, the rich cultural history of St.Lucia blends easily into the islands powerful landscape which is dominated by the Soufriere Volcano. Excellent for trekking and bird-watching, golf, tennis and sailing are also popular activities.
