    The best way to arrive in Belize is via flight to Belize City, from where a short connecting flight can be taken to Ambergris Caye; home to the charter port of San Pedro. San Pedro as a town is rich in Mexican Spanish flair and boasts a nice range of delectable food stores. Snorkelling and diving off the coast is also excellent here. Not far away is Caye Caulker, a lovely spot to anchor for the evening and perhaps head ashore to one of the local bars.

    As Caye Caulker is located so close to the reef, it makes for a perfect morning spent exploring the scenery underwater. The village by the same name carries a laid-back vibe that invites visitors to simply do their own thing. Begin the sail towards the charming fishing village of Placencia in the afternoon. It is quite a distance away so you may decide to spend the evening anchored at one of the attractive cays along the way such as Colson.

    Depart early for this village on the tip of the Peninsula offering a number of more modern facilities including atmospheric coffee shops as well as some spectacular natural diving sites nearby. Try Laughing Bird Caye National Park or the extremely adventurous can head to the outer reef where whale shark dives are often on offer. For fun above the water, there is a large lagoon ideal for canoeing or kayaking.

    Depart Placencia early and head for South Water Caye; home to some of the world’s best snorkelling where a whole menagerie of exciting marine life can be found including nurse sharks, rays, brightly-tinted fish and rays. Admire the sight of the Blue Ground Range as you head towards this snorkelling paradise.
