Weather in Djibouti

Djibouti is home to a semi-arid climate that ensures visitors are greeted with hot and dry conditions almost year-round. The country experiences a mid-year summer and cooler Christmas period.

Two basic seasons can be identified for the region; a dry season from May to October and a cool season from November to April. Rainfall is fairly evenly spread throughout the year although coastal regions receive their highest fall in winter. Summer is best avoided as its scorching 40C+ temperatures can be extremely uncomfortable. Daylight hours remain long year-round, so the lower temperatures in late winter/early autumn that sit just below 30 degrees Celsius make the period the best time to visit Djibouti.
