Weather in Madagascar

Madagascar’s home off the south-east coast of Africa ensures it is host to a subtropical climate with a hot, wet season from November through April and a cooler and drier season from May to October.

The west coast of Madagascar is generally much drier than the east while the south is by far the driest spot on the island. Coastal averages range from 27°C to 32°C in summer and 18°C to 22°C in winter, and many consider May to October to be the best time to visit with its cooler temperatures and limited rainfall. Daylight hours are well over 10 year-round and the island rarely experiences a drop in temperature below 10C even in the heart of winter.
