Weather in Italian Riviera

The Italian Riviera enjoys a lovely, mild climate similar to that of southern Italy thanks to the protection the stretch of coast receives from the Alps and Apennine range. The Italian Riviera is a pleasant place to visit any time of the year but the best period is April to June when the days are sunny without being unbearably hot and the beaches are much less crowded.

This stretch of coast benefits from its backdrop of Apennine Mountains which provide relief from Italy's north winds and ensure the Riviera’s climate remains mild. When the winds do blow in the summer months, they bring welcome respite from the heightened heat and tend to clear the humidity from the air. Rainfall is low year-round but experiences its peak in the autumn and spring seasons when showers are short in duration but quite frequent.
