Weather in Jamaica

As host to a tropical climate, Jamaica experiences distinct weather periods throughout the year. Although remaining warm all year round, with temperatures rarely dropping below 20 degrees Celsius, the island is prone to long wet seasons.

Between December and April is the perfect time to visit this vivacious island, when the sun is at its most comfortable and lower winds make for calm seas. Rainy periods fall between May and June, then again in September to November. The south coast is where to head if visiting in these months, as the towering mountains in the islan's centre shelter it from the majority of rainfall. It is best to avoid Jamaica from June to November, as hurricanes are common and make for unfavourable sailing conditions.
