Federation Square
Federation Square is one of Melbourne’s most famous centres; a cultural complex surrounded by lively bars, cafés, and restaurants. Often hosting concerts, mass screenings of sports events, and live performances, there is always something to be seen in the Square.

Museums

Right next door is the Australian Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia which houses an intriguing collection of Australian art, and also the Australian Centre for the Moving Image where visitors can discuss, create, or watch videos, games, and films.

Shopping

Chapel Street
Chapel Street in Prahran has long been a shopping legend in Melbourne; an extremely long strip of designer boutiques, high-fashion stores, unique jewellery shops and lovely cafés that make for a shopper’s dream.

City Centre
In the city centre, visitors can find a bevy of interesting stores in the arcades and hidden laneways including the new precinct of QV and the classic GPO. Everything from eclectic boutiques, funky homewares and local artworks can be found hidden amongst all the big-name department stores.

For something a little different, try the Rose Street Artist’s Market in Fitzroy, which is held every Saturday.

Sport
As one of Australia’s sporting capitals, a day spent at one of Melbourne’s sporting venues is an opportunity like no other. Whether it be watching cricket at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), AFL at the roofed Telstra Dome, Australian Open Tennis at Melbourne Park, or the world’s richest horse race the Melbourne Cup, there is guaranteed to be something to captivate year round.

Wine Tour
As one of the world’s finest wine-producing states, a trip to a winery in Victoria is first-class. Hire a car, or charter a plane and head to the beautiful regions of the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula or Sunbury.

Golf
Melbourne is home to four of Australia’s best golf courses, the best being the Alister Mackenzie designed Royal Melbourne. Although being private clubs, golfers holding reciprocal memberships with international clubs are welcome to play on the courses.

Al fresco Eats
Melbourne’s coffee culture is thriving and there is no end to the number of cafés and eateries perfect for a quick break or long lunch. Degraves Street, Centre Palace and Block Place are all lined with great alfresco dining options and high tea opportunities.
