Based in Genoa, Italy, Amico & Co can cater for all work, whether the project is just to refresh the paintwork or a major conversion or lengthening that may take a year or more. The yard can handle any type or size of yacht including the latest generation of large sailboats. It also specialises in working on classic and antique yachts where dedicated care is required. Since 1991, the continual growth of the Amico & Co shipyard has given testament to its leadership in the refit & repair industry and the yard itself has an area of 55,000 m² which includes 12 refit and repair covered areas and paint sheds specifically designed for large projects equipped with forced ventilation systems to maintain necessary temperature/humidity/emission conditions.

The company offers multiple megayacht docking solutions: inside the yard area there is a 102m sheltered graving dry-dock with a 31m air draft, equipped with state-of-the art and environmentally friendly technical systems for paint overspray recovering and treatment, heating & lighting. The dry-dock’s fully retractable telescopic shed has two major moveable sections that can slide completely over projects and also open a gap, where required, for any exterior crane works. In October 2019 the shipyard unveiled its new 4000-ton ShipLift for hauling, launching and manoeuvring superyachts of up to 95 metres in length using a system of synchronised hoists. Constructed in just 16 months, the system designed in-house by Amico & Co and involving 84 companies is complemented by 5 additional independent work ‘slots’ created by restructuring an area of 25,000 m² to allow work to be carried out on up to six superyachts at the same time. The shipyard also uses Dry-dock #2 in Genoa Port, a 200m dry-dock suitable for two yachts of up to 90m LOA, with a brand new 90m painting shed in the fore-section which has a 29.5m air draft.

Amico & Co is currently re-developing part of the Darsena Nautica area in the port of Genoa and once completed the area will become a marina able to receive large yachts along with their crews and owners, while also serving as the setting for future editions of the Genoa Boat Show.

The new ShipLift and work slots expand the existing Amico & Co refit facilities, which include a graving dock for vessels up to 102 metres; 4,500 m² of workshops; 10 covered slots for yachts from 50 to 70 metres and 5 slots for yachts up to 95 metres; a technical marina able for vessels up to 110 metres; a keel pit, suitable for sailing and racing yachts with swinging keels, plus fully electrified docks and hardstanding.

Clients will find not only experienced project managers, but also all the in-house skills and supervision necessary to meet the highest standards and requirements. Because of these in-house departments, Amico & Co is able to provide a better service in terms of reliability, cost and time efficiency. The in-house teams are complimented and completed with dry-dock operations, hard standing and shed arrangements, a dedicated warehouse and storage facilities. The large number of clients who bring their yachts back to the shipyard for repeat work is testimony to the dedicated service and skill that Amico & Co can bring to repair and refit work, offering the in-house skills and management to make each job a satisfying experience for owners, captains, managers and crews as well as the shipyard. Project organisation and management procedures are fully integrated thanks to a management system which has been perfected over 25 years. This is an indispensable tool for both the Amico & Co team and for the Client, who is kept constantly informed and who can monitor the state of progress of his project.

The company headquarters boast a crew area equipped with satellite tv and Wi-Fi with 24/7 access by using the company provided crew badge. A dedicated, multilingual concierge service caters for all accommodation, transport and any other client and crew requests. The yard is just minutes from central Genoa, a lively metropolis perfectly located for crews during their refit periods, with an international airport and great connections to Tuscany, all the major Italian cities and nearby ski resorts.
