Water Revolution Foundation Launched the YETI 1.0

At last month’s METSTRADE, non-profit organisation Water Revolution Foundation announced the launch of the first version of the highly anticipated Yacht Environmental Transparency Index (YETI) 1.0. Aimed at revolutionising and reducing the environmental impact of the superyacht industry as a whole, the first version of YETI is expected to transform the way in which superyachts are recognised to be green.

Created by a team of experts, the YETI 1.0 works by collecting the operational data of each vessel to compare it to similar yachts in the same size category; thus assessing its environmental impact. The YETI 1.0 tool is pioneering the way towards a truly sustainable future of yachting: guiding all industry professionals to lead to the endpoint of reaching a reduced ecological footprint across the board.

Feadship Achieved Major Milestone on Journey to Carbon Neutral Superyacht

In November, leading Dutch shipyard Feadship revealed that it had reached a major milestone on its journey to building the first carbon-neutral superyacht by 2030. Receiving approval-in-principle from Lloyds Registry for a new ‘agnostic’ fuel system, the yard has now achieved the second stage in its roadmap towards achieving carbon neutrality.

Feadship’s cutting-edge 81.75m PURE concept, which was conceived to be fully future-proof, is now one step further to becoming a reality with the agreement from Lloyds. Monaco Yacht Show Launched Brand-New Sustainability Hub

The esteemed Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) made a significant addition to its 31st edition this year. Unveiling its first-ever ‘Sustainability Hub’ in June, the 2022 show welcomed the perfect showcase for the superyacht industry's latest sustainable solutions and innovative, eco-conscious alternatives.

With the industry’s efforts in sustainable investment increasing year on year, the brand-new MYS Sustainability Hub was created to both provide a platform for the research and development of sustainable yachting solutions, and raise awareness of environmental issues within the yachting community. As one of the world’s most recognised yacht shows, welcoming exhibitors and visitors from around the world, this new exhibition area is certainly an incredibly significant addition to the superyacht sector.

Benetti's First Sustainable B.YOND Superyacht Hit the Water

An impressive addition to the industry’s fleet this year is the highly sustainable 37m GOGA. Launched by Italian shipyard Benetti in July, GOGA is the first from the yard’s revolutionary voyager model B.YOND.

Described by Benetti as ‘the greenest yacht in the world’, GOGA and the B.YOND model are a brilliant showcase of the yard’s central vision for sustainability, which encompasses both product and planet. Partnering with Siemens Energy, the new model features innovative E-mode Hybrid propulsion which results in 24% less CO2 emissions than an average yacht of her size, alongside several other sustainable additions.

Not only impressively sustainable, GOGA also completely redefines the yachting experience through her comfortable and ultra-luxe interiors. It is evident that the launch of GOGA was yet another significant addition to the industry’s move to be more sustainable.

Top 100: Building Green Giants Began Streaming on Superyachts.com
