Mari Cha 4
Mari Cha 4 is a 42m sailing yacht built in 2003 by JMV Industries.
Mari Cha 4 is the famous swing keel/water ballasted schooner originally developed solely for breaking world sailing records. After several seasons the decision was made to enter the yacht in superyacht regattas and it was necessary to improve her windward sailing ability. Owen Clarke were contracted by skipper Mike Sanderson to undertake an analysis of her performance and reccomended the fitting of twin 6m high lift asymetric daggerboards as the solution to improve the yacht's balance upwind. Owen Clarke designed and engineered the modifications necessary and designer Merfyn Owen continued to race onboard and provide performance analysis/data logging services for the following three seasons until the yacht retired from racing.
