Explore Genoa By Day...

For a day spent ashore, these are the places to be pampered, the sights to see, the shopping districts to delve into, the activities to indulge in, and the gourmet treats to discover.

Pampering
Bentley Hotel
When all the shopping and city-exploring has taken its toll, head to Genoa’s newest five-star hotel for the ultimate in pampering. Located in the city centre, the Bentley Hotel offers a relaxing refuge in the bustling Genoan heart. Soak tired muscles in a Turkish bath, water jet hydromassage tub.

Terme di Acqui Spa
In the ancient spa town of Acqui Terme, lays the Terme di Acqui Spa, a fantastically unique area of naturally healing hot springs. Situated in the alluring wine region of Piedmont, the exclusive thermal wellness centre uses "fango" or mud made with pungent Acqui Terme waters rich in sulphur, chloride, bromide and other beneficial elements to soothe the mind, body and soul. The distinctive fango is required to mature in a tank for six months before it is used on human skin, and then expertly mixed with water naturally derived and heated from the world-famous springs.

Sights
Aquarium
Often called, “the market square on the Mediterranean”, a day spent exploring the newly-renovated port is a real adventure. Perhaps the highlight is the stylishly designed Acquario Di Genova, Europe’s largest Aquarium. Euro opened in 1993 with 10,000 specimens belonging to 800 animal species and 200 vegetal species. With 71 exhibition tanks hosting over 10000 specimens, and beautifully reconstructed Mediterranean and tropical environments, it really is a rare and wondrous sight to see for both young and old alike.

Shopping
Piazza De Ferrasi
For an indulgent day spent perusing the latest designer fashions, the shopping corridors radiating from Piazza De Ferrasi are unrivalled. The amazing boutiques on Via XX Settembre, Via E. Vernazza, via Roma, and the myriad of elegance in Galleria Mazzini present shoppers with endless buying options.

Via Orefici and Via Luccoli
For a special something uniquely Genoan, wander down via Orefici and via Luccoli and peer in the windows of the artisan studios and antique shops for a one-off piece. Codevilla in particular is well-renowned for its high-quality, beautiful and original creations. For the ultimate sweet-tooth, the Confetteria di Pietro Romanengo has been selling irresistible sugary treats since 1780 you won’t find anywhere else I the world.

San Remo
The Italian Riviera is adorned with all the designer treats you would expect from such an opulent cruising ground, and there are indulgent shopping getaways in most of the region’s resort towns. San Remo presents the Corso Matteotti, a lovely avenue lined with every type of shop from high-end fashion stores to antique shops and patisseries, all invitingly laid out to entice you in.

Ceramics
The Italian Riviera is also renowned for producing some of the most impressive and extraordinary ceramics in the world, producing unique art pieces and functional products intricately decorated and created from local materials. If you fancy taking any of these eye-catching pieces home with you, there will be no end to the choice at your fingertips. Try Fabbrica d’Arte in Monterosso, or any of the ancient central alleyways of Genoa.

Activities
Adventure Sports
Finale Ligure can perhaps be called the adventure capital of the Italian Riviera, and docking in the beautiful seaside town offers an excellent base for thrill-seekers and keen adventurers to enjoy a day on the land. Rock climbing is particularly enticing, with the area offering fantastically diverse sites with over 20 crags and 2000 routes. Situated in a succession of valleys in the hills behind Finale Ligure, the area can be explored alone or with a personal guide, returning each evening to the comfort of your yacht and the lively nightlife around the Finale Marina. For more adventure pursuits, try parasailing, hang-gliding or kite surfing.

Winter Sports
With the pretty snow resort town of Limone Piemonte less than an hour’s drive from Genoa, an excellent day trip can be made to enjoy the region’s spectacular downhill and cross-country skiing, snow boarding, ice-skating and paragliding. Or in the summer months, spend your time rafting, canoeing, cycling, horse riding or hitting the golf course.

Wineries
The spectacular Italian wine region of Piedmont is home to magnificent scenery and superb food, and as one of Italy’s lesser known wine regions, makes for a perfect escape from the coast. Taking a chartered helicopter tour will land you amongst the tumbling vineyards in no time, and have you sampling some of the best wine Italy has to offer, not forgetting any of the region’s famous hazelnuts, white truffles and cheeses.

Road Trip
Alternatively, if you would prefer to zip your way through the mesmerizing Italian Alps in your own time, hire a classic Italian sports car and make the most of your adventure by spending an evening in one of many wineries’ sumptuous accommodations. Just be sure to return to your yacht with a few cases for your own cellar.

Castellaro Golf Club
Slowing down the pace for a day, San Remo is the number one destination for complete pampering. For an ultimately diverse experience without sacrificing a hint of luxury, The Castellaro Golf Club is a charmingly beautiful golf and spa resort. With a nine-hole golf course and lighted driving range to cater for those keen to hit the green after weeks on the sea, the Club is perfectly positioned in a scenic location overlooking the sea.

For indoor relaxation, there is a superior wellness centre equipped with all the modern luxuries you could require; heated pools, saunas, Turkish baths, a gym and a complete set of expert salon services. For when the need for adventure takes hold again, there is a tennis court, football pitch, basket and volleyball; bowls; children’s playground; bicycles and health walks, and next door is a horse-riding school that organises horseback excursion to the hinterland.

Bites
Zeffirino
Brilliantly located on Via XX Settembre, Zeffirino was once the local haunt of musical royalty Pavarotti and Frank Sinatra. With only a sprinkling of restaurants around the globe including Hong Kong and Las Vegas, Zeffirino has international status, earning them the title of “Ambassador of Italian Cuisine.” With a welcoming atmosphere, delicious seafood specialities and homemade desserts, sharing a lunch at this endearing restaurant is almost a necessity.
