By Paul Joseph

The inaugural edition of the Art Wynwood contemporary art fair is set to take place in Miami, Florida, later this week.

Held over President’s Day Weekend, the fair will offer an impressive programme with 500 artists from around the world exhibiting an array of works including paintings, sculpture, videos, new media, conceptual and street art.

The exhibitors will comprise a mixture of renowned and emerging artists from more than 50 galleries from around the world.

In celebration of Art Wynwood’s debut, guests at the VIP Preview on Thursday will have front-row seats to a special live performance and exhibit by renowned Indian visual artist Amrita Sen.

Highly regarded ethical fashion designer and visual artist Luis Valenzuela will also be onsite during the opening night showing a selection of one-of-a-kind pieces created for his EcoArtFashion collection.

Other highlights at the show will include Wynwood pioneer Tony Goldman exhibiting what he describes as “the flying murals of Wynwood” in the fair’s VIP Lounge. Under his guidance, six large murals by international artists, including a Retna work from the Janet and Tony Goldman Collection, are to be installed.

Art Wynwood will take place at the Art Miami Pavilion between February 16 – 20. The show will be open from 6pm-10pm on Thursday's VIP Preview Day, 11am-7pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and 11am-6pm on Monday.
