Astrological Watch from Louis Moinet

By P. Joseph

Ideal for those fascinated by the wonders of the universe, French watchmaker Louis Moinet has launched an astrological themed timepiece said to contain authentic planetary rocks.

The limited edition Astralis is fitted with a revolving disc that imitates the rotation of the earth, making a full revolution every 24 hours. On each disc is four stones that it is claimed originated on the Sun, Moon, Mars and Mercury.

Limited to just 12 pieces, the Astralis also boasts an astral Tourbillon and a split-second column-wheel Chronograph. Under the tourbillon, aventurine chemicals replicate the look of the night sky.

The watch also comprises the distinctive characteristics of Louis Moinet timepieces, including a dial with a dedicated “Côtes du Jura” motif and the “Gouttes de Rosée” (“dewdrop”) hands.

It also features a hand-sewn strap in Louisiana alligator leather lined with crocodile leather. The double folding clasp is made from 18-carat rose gold and grade 5 titanium with a PVD finish.

The watch comes delivered in a Louis Moinet presentation box evoking the Traite d’Horlogerie (watchmaking treatise) written in 1848.
