Audemars Piguet Launch Special Edition Chronograph
Swiss watch-maker Audemars Piguet has launchd a limited edition watch to mark the brand’s sixth consecutive year as the official timekeeper of the Tour Auto classic car rally.
Limited to 150 pieces, the 2011 Audemars Piguet Millenary Tour Auto Chronograph is available with a 47mm case fashioned from steel. Its back side is embossed with the Tour Auto logo.
Based on the original Millenary Chronograph, the special edition model is inspired by classic European sports cars, including an exposed stripe of perlage polished metal on the dial, quilt-stitched leather strap, and a sporty red against the cream and silver tones of the dial.
The 47mm wide case is 42mm high and in steel. Housed in the case is a black dial complete with circular-grained surfaces, whilst the watch’s functions are driven by an in-house manufactured automatic AP caliber 2385 movement.
First held in 1992, the Tour Auto covers a scenic route across a carefully selected sequence of French minor roads.
This year’s rally takes place between the 11th-16th April.
