The 15th edition of the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition comes to a close today, with both global and domestic car brands in strong attendance over the 9 day event.

Around 2000 exhibitors from 20 countries took part in the high-profile car fair, which was attended by more than 80,000 car enthusiasts, journalists and key industry figures.

This year’s show, which carried the theme of "Innovation for Better Life," demonstrated an array of new technologies, as well as further highlighting China’s growing car manufacturing sector.

Amongst the home-grown brands in attendance were established companies such as FAW, SAIC Group, Dongfeng Motor, Changan Automobile, GAC Group and BAIC Motor, plus new kids on the block including Jiangling Motors, Changfeng Group, Landwind Motor, and Zhongxing Automobile.

They were joined by renowned global luxury carmakers including Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz Bugatti, Eterniti, Koenigsegg and MKB.

Of the main western luxury car brands, Audi currently holds the top spot for sales in China, with competitors BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac all with ambitions to usurp them in the coming years.

The Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition was founded in 1985 as the first professional international auto show in China.

China is today the world’s largest car market.
