Bang & Olufsen Create $80,000 BeoLab 90 Speakers

By Paul Joseph

Bang & Olufsen have long been known for combining radical, stylish designs with state-of-the-art technology to create world class audio equipment – and their latest release could be their best yet.

The Danish audio experts have produced a set of high-tech speakers called the BeoLab 90, featuring eye-catching geometric design and a grand total of 18 drivers including seven tweeters, seven mids, and four woofers.

Boasting the kind of striking curves and lines you would normally expect to see on a luxury yacht, the 50 inch high BeoLab 90 is built from an aluminium cabinet and uses acoustically transparent fabric stretched across the speakers in a wave like pattern.

Each unit provides multi-directional audio, while Bang & Olufsen have also added a feature called “Beam Width Control,” that allows users to focus the sound to a specific area of a room – a function that can be performed via your smartphone using B&O’s app.

Each individual speaker is priced at $38,995 and is available from Bang & Olufsen stores worldwide.

Founded in Denmark in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, Bang & Olufsen has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned designers of high-end audio products, television sets and telephones.
