Bang & Olufsen Launches New Wireless Speakers

By Paul Joseph

Danish high-end audio experts Bang & Olufsen has released a new range of luxury wireless speakers.

Previously reluctant to enter the wireless speaker segment due to the risk of compromising on the quality of sound, B&O have finally come up with a creation that they believe provides an optimum listening experience.

The new range comprises a trio of new BeoLab models — BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18 and BeoLab 19 – each boasting their own distinctive design and function.

The BeoLab 18 ($6,590) is the flagship product of the new range and features a front panel made up of 21 wooden “lamellas” and comes in a choice of black, white or solid oak. It also boasts B&O’s Acoustic Lenstechnology, commonly used in vehicles, and two 4-inch midrange woofers powered by separate 160-watt amplifiers.

Boasting a bushed aluminium body forged in a unique shape, the BeoLab 17 ($3,990) can work as a standalone unit and is essentially a bookshelf speaker. The cover or the front grille is removable and comes in ta choice of blue, black and white.

Finally, the BeoLab 19 comes with a pair of 8inch drivers, each with its own chamber and 160-watt amp placed back-to-back.

All of the three speakers follow the WiSA standard, ensuring compatibility with any other certified device.

Founded in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, Bang & Olufsen has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned designers and makers of high-end audio products, television sets and telephones.
