Bang & Olufsen Launches Portable Speaker for iDevices

High-end audio makers Bang & Olufsen have launched a new portable speaker system for iDevices – the first product to be released under the Danish company’s new sub-brand, B&O Play.

Priced at £580 ($799), the Beolit 12 speaker features a full-grain Italian leather carry strap and a solid anodised aluminium speaker grill which wraps around the system.

It is designed primarily for iPhones, iPods and iPads, but can also be connected to other devices, as well as being AirPlay compatible.

The system’s top, where the docking station sits, is finished in rubber and designed to be non-slip, ensuring the safety of your device whilst charging or playing music.

B&O Play has been established to help the company move into a new range of products designed specifically for a new generation of “mobile, digital, quality-conscious customers”.

“By combining Bang & Olufsen’s 86 years of experience in sound and acoustic technology and advances with the latest wireless technology, Beolit 12 allows the user to play pristine music from their digital devices,” said Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Vice President of B&O PLAY.

“We have packaged all of this technology in a compact solution and wrapped it in a beautiful hand-assembled aluminium casing which can be moved around freely with no cables by simply grabbing the leather-strap.”

In 2010 Bang & Olufsen launched the BeoSound 8 sound system for iDevice docking, which became the fastest selling product in the company’s history.

The B&O Beolit 12 is available at B&O stores (plus online) from this month, as well as through the Apple Store.
