By Paul Joseph

High-end Danish audio maker Bang & Olufsen has unveiled its first ever soundbar, complete with eye-catching geometric shapes and natural materials in its design.

Called the Beosound Stage, the product was launched at the 2019 Venice Biennale art exhibition in May, and is housed in a sleek, beautifully designed body created by a B&O collaboration with compatriot brand NORM Architects.

The Beosound Stage has a distinctive flat design with the frame available in a choice of natural aluminium and bronze-tone aluminium. For an extra price, you can also opt for a version in smoked oak.

On the inside, the gadget features a three-channel sound system with 11 drivers that each have a 50-watt amplifier, which includes four 4-inch speakers designed to reduce distortion to further enhance the low-end tone, two 1.5-inch drivers for mid-range sounds and a pair of 3/4-inch dome tweeter for 3D-surround effect.

The speaker is Dolby Atmos-capable that includes support for Dolby TrueHD. In addition to the HDMI ARC port for connectivity with TV, the Beosound Stage comes with AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless connectivity and connects to B&O’s multiroom BeoLink speaker system.

The Beosound Stage will come with a price of $1,750 when it goes on sale later this Autumn.

Founded in Denmark in 1925 by Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, Bang & Olufsen has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned designers of high-end audio products, television sets and telephones.
