Baume & Mercier Creates New Capeland Timepieces

By Paul Joseph

Swiss luxury brand Baume & Mercier has created a new range of its iconic Capeland collection of timepieces.

Modelled after the original Capeland collection from the 1940s, the watches are available in both steel and 18k rose gold, and feature two distinctive dial styles: one with pomme hands and a snailed tachymeter scale and another with Arabic numerals and bolder colours.

The dials also come complete with highly curved sapphire crystals and large chronograph pushers and crowd. Case dimensions of 42 and 44mm are both available.

Other notable features include a host of dial colour options including black and white, anthracite, grey, copper, brown and silver.

The movement is a base Swiss ETA Valjoux 7753 Automatic, modified by Lajoux-Perret, according to Baume & Mercier. An open display back allows you to see the movement.

The Steel Capeland timepiece is priced at £4,990, and the Rose Gold Capeland costs £12,990.
