Belmond Create Luxury Barge Adventures in Rural France

By Paul Joseph

Luxury hotel and leisure company Belmond have created a unique boat-hotel concept that invites travellers to experience the best of the France’s countryside on a luxury barge.

Called Belmond Afloat, the barges will cruise under stone bridges, past vineyards and charming villages, exploring the regions of Champagne, Burgundy, Provence or Alsace along the way.

Belmond’s seven barges boast 2 to 6 ensuite cabins with some featuring a lounge, heated plunge pools and a dining space on the deck.

Guests will have the chance to visit wineries and villages as their barge drifts through the verdant and picturesque countryside.

In the evenings they can enjoy a meal prepared on-board by a professional chef, or sit down to a fine dining experience at a restaurant on the shore.

Each barge has its own unique route with different cities and towns featured in the itinerary. So whether guests  want to take the Belmond Alouette from Carcassonne to Béziers or the Belmond Fleur de Lys from Dijon to Vandenesse, each journey promises its own perspective on rural France

Formerly known as Orient-Express Hotels, Belmond operates luxury hotels, train services and river cruises around the world.
