Bentley Bentayga Speed Becomes World’s Fastest Production SUV
Iconic British carmakers Bentley have regained the title of makers of the world’s fastest production SUV with the launch of a souped-up version of its Bentayga model.
Called the Bentayga Speed, the SUV has been re-tuned to go faster than the standard model, with its 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 augmented to get a bump of 26 horsepower, taking the total output to 626 horsepower.
This has not only helped the Bentayga Speed accelerate quicker from zero to 60mph in just 3.9 seconds, down from the standard car’s 4.1 seconds, but also get a new top speed of 190mph – beating the Lamborghini Urus by 0.5mph to earn the coveted title.
Furthermore, Bentley say they have also recalibrated and updated other systems on the new Bentayga Sport.
“The Sport mode has been recalibrated to enhance response from the W12 engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission, as well as the suspension and Bentley Dynamic Ride, and the effect is a more dynamic and engaging drive,” the brand said in a statement.
In terms of aesthetic updates, the new Bentayga Speed comes with tinted headlights and a spoiler on the back. Meanwhile 22-inch wheels and carbon ceramic brake are optional extras, and firmer suspension, throatier exhaust and extended body kit all come as standard.
The Bentley Bentayga Speed will make its debut in March at the Geneva auto show, where pricing is also likely to be announced.
