Bentley Continental Supersports the “Fastest Bentley Ever”
It’s that time of year again – that is the start of the year, when the latest “fastest Bentley ever” is traditionally unveiled by the iconic British car marquee.
A new addition to Bentley’s Continental range, the Supersports is said to reach 62 mph from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds, making it the fastest accelerating Bentley in the company’s history. With a top speed of 209 mph, it is also said to be the world’s fastest four seat car, according to Bentley.
These impressive stats are achieved thanks to an overhauled version of the 6.0 litre W12 engine, churning out 700 bhp and an equally impressive 750 lb-ft of torque.
Available in both coupe and convertible versions, key to the Continental Supersports’ additional outputs are newly designed, higher-capacity turbochargers and a revised charge-air cooling system which create enhanced boost and power.
Enabling a smooth handling to is a specially calibrated torque vectoring system that individually brakes front and rear wheels during acceleration to come out of corners. A lower and stiffer suspension than its predecessors also serves to provide a more agile yet comfortable ride.
Also making the new Supersports standout is a carbon fibre splitter and diffuser in the front and rear bumpers. The grilles and vents are all finished in matt black, further complimented by dark tinted headlamps and tail lamps.
The dark theme continues with darkened door handles, window surrounds and rear bumper, while the interior boasts generous use of carbon fibre and faux suede along with and a bespoke steering wheel.
The Bentley Continental Supersports Coupe will be priced at $296,025, while the convertible version will cost $325,325.
