Bentley To Launch New Continental V8
British luxury car maker Bentley is to launch the latest addition to its ultra-popular Continental range at next month’s North American International Auto Show.
Available as a coupé and GTC convertible from launch, the new Continental V8 boasts a 4.0 litre, twin-turbo, direct injection V8 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It reaches top speeds in excess of 180mph and can hit 60mph in under 5 seconds.
Bentley has used cylinder-cut-out technology that allows the engine to switch from a V8 to a V4 where conditions allow, helping the car cut back on fuel consumption and emissions whilst still delivering an ultra-high performance.
Commenting on the new model, Wolfgang Durheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, said: “With the new 4.0 litre V8 engine we are widening the appeal of the latest generation of Continentals, introducing a completely new driving experience.
“The new engine will have all the exhilarating power, drama and performance you would expect from a V8 engine sporting the famous Bentley wings, effortlessly delivered with our characteristic ‘wave of torque’”.
Other notable features on the new V8 include its black gloss matrix radiator grille with chrome frame and centre bar, red enamel Bentley ‘B’ badges at the front and rear, a black matrix three-segment lower front bumper divided by body-coloured strakes, and chromed ‘figure eight’ exhaust tailpipes and a dark lower valance.
The North American International Auto Show will run from January 10-23.
