BMW Designs Luxury Gondola

By Paul Joseph

Carmakers are often experimenting by turning their design techniques to other vehicles and machinery, but none before have created a luxury ski gondola – until now.

Luxury automobile makers BMW have designed a luxury ski gondola inspired by the brand’s hugely popular 7-Series car.

The gondola, created to raise brand awareness for BMW, is available to use at the Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach ski resort in Austria as part of a €150 euro luxury package, which gives buyers a two-day lift tickets and queuing privileges.

“The interior comes from BMW Individual – comprising of leather seats with an integrated massage function and a multimedia system from the BMW 7 limousine series,” says the manufacturer.

With ski resorts drawing vast numbers of often affluent visitors throughout the year, they are prime spots for brands hoping to expand their reach.

Other car brands to have diversified into high spec vehicles and products include Mercedes-Benz, who have designed helicopters, motor yachts and furniture.

BMW was founded in Germany in 1917.
