German luxury carmakers BMW have unveiled the latest addition to their X4 series, the M40i.

The new SUV is billed as setting “new standards with even more keenly honed driving dynamics, a high degree of emotionalism and singular exclusivity.”

Notable features include M performance TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder petrol engine – the first time such an engine has been used in a BMW.

The petrol version is capable of producing 265 kW/360 hp between 5,800 and 6,000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 465 Nm, all of which enables the car to reach 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

On the car’s exterior are exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy double-spoke wheels, Chrome Black tailpipes, plus striking colour accents.

BMW was founded in Germany in 1917.
