BMW Reveals New M6 Convertible and Coupe Models

BMW has unveiled its third-generation M6 convertible and coupe models – billed as the German car-maker’s fastest ever two-door road cars.

Powered by a twin- turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine, the cars can reach top speeds of 189mph and boast a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox.

BMW has implemented a series of weight-saving measures including a clear lacquered carbon fibre-reinforced plastic roof for the M6 coupé, together with aluminium-skinned doors and bonnet, composite plastic front wings and a glass fibre composite boot lid for both models.

For the first time on the M6, BMW is also offering the new coupé and convertible with optional carbon-ceramic brake discs.

The coupe will debut at the Geneva Motor show next month whilst the convertible will be launched in New York in April.

The BMW M6 coupé will be priced at £93,795 ($147,000), whilst the convertible will cost £98,995 ($155,000).
