Breitling Name David Beckham as Brand Ambassador

By Paul Joseph

Football star David Beckham is used to jet-setting between countries, constantly juggling his commitments in Los Angeles, the UK and elsewhere.

And it is perhaps this transient lifestyle that encouraged him to become the face of a new timepiece that displays all 24 of the world’s time zones.

Created by Swiss watch brand Breitling, the Transocean Chronograph Unitime worldtimer is billed as the ultimate travel watch, thanks to its double disk enabling permanent readings of the time in all 24 timezones.

When the user changes timezone, simply turning the crown forwards of backwards enables instant correction of the hour hand, the city disk and the 24-hour disk, while automatically adjusting the date to local time.

Breitling introduced its first Unitimer model – a self-winding world-time watch and now a sought-after collectors’ item - in the 1950s.

Beckham’s role as a brand ambassador for the latest model has been captured in an advert featuring the footballer on the runway of the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, standing in front of a private jet wearing his Transocean Chronograph Unitime.

“I've always been a long-time admirer of Breitling”, said Beckham. “As a company they create not only the highest-performance watches but also timeless designs that have inspired generations. It was a natural choice for me to partner with this fantastic brand.”

Available in either a 18-karat rose gold or stainless-steel case, the Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitim is priced at £7,060 ($11,200).
