Bulgari Launch Commedia dell’ Arte Timepiece

By Paul Joseph

Italian luxury goods brand Bulgari have created new limited edition timepiece inspired by 16th century Italian theatre.

Billed as epitomising Bulgari’s craftsmanship and creativity, the limited edition Commedia dell’ Arte timepiece features the embossed and handpainted motif of a scene from an Italian theatre on the dial.

The scene, based on a classic painting, represents a masked character typical of Italian theatre in that era. When the watch’s cathedral gong Minute Repeater is activated, the character springs to life against a backdrop of an Italian palacco.

The watch comes in three models, each bearing a different legendary character on the motif: Brighella, Pucinella or Harlequin.

Cast from an entirely handmade solid 18k gold dial, the enamelled elements are hand applied, and form part of a subtle interplay between all the parts of the watch, with the right arm of each character pointing to the minute, and each character sitting on a window giving the hour.

Other notable elements include a BVL 618 caliber movement, jumping hour mechanics and a power reserve of 48 hours.

Pricing for the limited edition Commedia dell’ Arte timepiece is yet to be announced, but is expecte to be in the region of £100,000.
