Bulgari Launch New Octo Timepiece

By Paul Joseph

When the renowned Swiss watch-maker Gerald Genta sadly passed away last year, he left behind a lasting legacy of iconic timepieces.

The Octo range by Italian jewellery and luxury goods house Bulgari were just some of the lavish watches to bear Genta’s name over the years, and now Bulgari have launched their latest version, boasting many of the hallmarks of its creator’s design style, but with a few new twists.

Available in either stainless steel or 18-karat rose gold, perhaps the most notable difference to its predecessors is the new Octo’s ultra-complex 41.5mm case. Hand-finished, the three-part case (bezel, middle and caseback) boasts a total of 110 polished or brushed facets facets, some of which end in angles as steep as 90 degrees.

Named after its distinctive shape, the three-hand watch comes in an octagonal base and profile married to a round face that frames an octagonal flange.

Other features include an in-house made automatic movement called the Bulgari Caliber BVL 193, a Black alligator leather with steel or pink gold double-blade folding clasp, and a 50 hour power reserve

The stainless steel Bulgari Octo is priced at $9,500 whilst the 18-karat pink gold version is available for $28,300.
