Burberry Opens Flagship Store in South Korea

By Paul Joseph

Iconic British fashion house Burberry has opened its debut store in the South Korean capital of Seoul.

Located in the Cheongdam-dong district, the new store is located within a 13 storey building and features an exterior inspired by gabardine, the trademark plaid textile used to make the brand’s famous trench coats.

The development of the store, which features two underground and one above ground levels, was overseen by Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey.

Last year Burberry announced the opening of the brand’s largest store in China in the city of Shanghai.

Established by eponymous founder Thomas Burberry in 1856, Burberry has grown to become one of the world’s most renowned high-end fashion labels.

In 2013 Christopher Bailey was appointed Chief Creative and chief executive officer of Burberry, responsible for creating and delivering the company's global vision and business strategy.
