Burberry Opens Largest US Store in Chicago

British fashion house Burberry has opened its largest ever US store in the city of Chicago.

Last week Burberry Chief executive Angela Ahrendts said the company intends to focus on high-growth markets such as Brazil and India, but its new US flagship indicates that its ambitions extend to more established markets too.

Located on the city’s famous North Michigan Avenue and spread over 5 floors, the store will offer a comprehensive range of Burberry’s men’s and women’s collections.

As well as its existing pieces, the store will also offer a newly-designed “capsule collection” of limited-edition pieces available exclusively at the new address. Designed by Creative Director Christopher Bailey, the new collection will feature about 30 women’s styles and five men’s trench coats.

The grand-opening party of the store is set to take place at the end of the month.

Earlier this month, Burberry reported half-year pre-tax profits of £173 million, up 6%.

The brand was founded by Thomas Burberry in 1856.
