Cannes Yachting Festival Gears up for 40th Anniversary

By Paul Joseph

Over the past four decades the Cannes Yachting Festival has become an eagerly awaited event on the Cote d’Azur’s annual calendar and this year’s landmark edition promises to be another glistening occasion.

Now into its 40th year, the 6-day event takes place in the sparkling bay of Cannes – in two exceptional marinas, Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto – and has grown to become one of Europe’s leading in-water boat shows, with over 600 boats on display.

Last year the festival saw the successful launch of La Terrasse, an area dedicated to luxury brands built on stilts and located on the beach. And for 2017, the event will build on this success with the ‘Luxury Gallery’, also dedicated to premium brands outside of yachting.

This will include cars, watches, jewellery, aviation, property, gourmet food, tableware, fashion houses, leather ware and saddle-making, furniture and design, art and photography, hotels, high-tech products, upmarket services, and more.

Among the brands set to feature are Porsche, Interni SPA, Dodane 1857, Impatia, Nicolas Rosini di Santi, Manufacture des Emaux de Lonwy 1798, Tiber and Marc Alexandre.

Special events will be held throughout the week to celebrate the milestone edition of the show, which last year attracted over 50,000 visitors.

During the festival, shipyards offer trips out to sea so that new buyers can try out the finest yachts in the world and make an informed choice.

The Cannes Yachting Festival will take place from 12th – 17th September.
