Cannes Yachting Festival to Host Concours d’Elégance

By Christina Tsangaris

Following the success of the 2015 Cannes Yachting Festival, the glittering hub of Cannes will come alive once again for the Concours d’Elégance 2016 competition.

Vieux Port Cannes, in the heart of the French Riviera, will showcase a dazzling spectacle of vintage and modern day boats, attracting a global clientele to its 2016 event.

As a seamless addition to the show’s previous luxury credentials, the event will take place alongside the VIP pontoon this September. Exclusively open to exhibitors, owners and collectors of motorboats and day-boats of 12 metres or less, this rare occasion will offer visitors a chance to admire the most exquisite fleet of the finest classic yachts, antique vessels and latest releases against the bustling backdrop of the famed Croisette.

Nautical enthusiasts and yacht owners are invited to showcase their day boats to a jury of experts such as Mrs Annette Roux, president of the Cannes Yachting Festival. Judging of the models will be based on the quality of the boats restoration, its history and the rarity of the model, as well as the elegance of the crew and quality of the parade.

Following on from the procession, each guest from the yacht participant’s to exclu-sive VIP’s will be invited to attend an intimate awards ceremony situated at the VIP Club at 7pm.

As well as a vibrant celebration of the rich history of yachting, an array of dazzling prizes will be awarded to the most elegant women of the evening, as well as a special award gifted to the jury’s favourite.

The list of boats participating in the second edition of the Concours d’Elegance will be officially announced in late August following the jury’s pre-selection. Participation in the Concours d'Elegance is free, the registration form can be found online on the Cannes Yachting Festival website.
